SOCIAL PROJECT ABA-SE06 IN ARGENTINA

Description:

This project is located in a very nice and safe neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is a rehabilitation center run by nuns, for mothers and their children who suffer from difficult domestic situations. They are often socially vulnerable, and living on the streets. The centre takes care of the mothers and children during one year, in which they have access to workshops in work training and family care, so that they learn how to take care of their children and support themselves out in society. The objective is that they will learn how to live independently again and have a good life with their children.

Activities:

Volunteers can help organizing recreational and creative activities for the mothers living at the home, such as art workshops, handicrafts, cooking, theatre, music and English classes. It is also possible, in agreement with the project, to arrange cultural and fun excursions.

Requirements:

Volunteers should have experience working with women and children. Those with an interest or background in psychology and/or social work would do especially well in this project. People between 20 and 40 years are best fitted to work at the volunteer project.

Minimum:

4 weeks.

Work Schedule:

Monday through to Friday, from 15 through 19 hrs.

Spanish:

Intermediate. It is recommended to take a Spanish course before starting your volunteer work.

Capacity:

2 volunteers at a time.
